Just like when you cook the food you have to take care of all the ingredients, the quantity of each of them and follow the instructions of the recipe to get perfect food. Similarly, digital marketing has various channels such as Social Media, Email Marketing, SEO, Google ads, Content marketing wherein each of them has to be used in a perfect balance to achieve your goals.

Let’s start by first understanding the fundamentals of marketing.

  1. Marketing is purely a science. Follow the laws and you will achieve your desired results.Marketing starts before creating the product. The objective is to create a product that meets the demand of the market.
  2. Marketing is about sending the right message to the right person at the right time.
  3. Marketing is about satisfying your current customers and making sure they are with you forever.
  4. Marketing is a means to an end. The purpose is to build a brand that captures the mind of your audience.
“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells by itself. The aim of Marketing is to make selling superfluous” _ Peter Drucker

What is Digital marketing and how is it different from traditional marketing.

Digital Marketing

Digital Marketing, also called online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media and web-based advertising but also text and multimedia messages as a marketing channel.

Essentially, if a marketing campaign involves digital communication, it’s digital marketing.

Traditional Marketing:
Advertising and promotion via newspapers, Television, magazines, Radio, Billboards are considered traditional marketing.
Now let’s try and understand the difference between them. Traditional Marketing helps you reach a wider audience. So if your product or service is of mass appeal. Then using traditional marketing along with digital marketing would help your brand. But in case you are in a niche segment reaching that audience via digital marketing would benefit your brand because digital marketing helps you reach a defined audience that meets your buyer persona. You would be selling to the people who need your product. The results of digital marketing are measurable. You can measure the exact number of people your campaign reached and the ROI.
Once we have understood the difference between the two. Let’s understand the marketing funnel to get the best results.

CATT Marketing Funnel

Wealth = n^ CATT

(n) Niche: Your success and wealth depend on the niche you choose.
(C) Content: Blogs, Posts, Videos, Lead Magnets, Live Webinars etc
(A) Attention: Drive attention (traffic) to your content using SEO, Social Media, Paid ads.
(T) Trust: Build trust with your audience
(T) Transaction: Convert your leads into customers using natural sales methods.

Since your success depends on it, How do you select a good niche?

Here is the formula for niche selection. You need talent, passion and a market for it.
Let me explain by giving you an example. Let’s say you have a talent as well as a passion for making handicrafts. All you got to figure out if there are people who want to buy your products. Once you figure out a market for it, you have discovered your niche.
The next step after niche selection is understanding the economics of your market. Depending upon the cost of your products you will have to select an audience who can afford to pay your price.

What should be your digital marketing strategy? Use SEO Or Paid ads or Content Marketing or Email Marketing or Social Media?

The right answer and strategy are to combine all the above and use integrated digital marketing. Let’s understand it via an example.
I am a manufacturer of a specific print and material of sarees. First of all, I need to have an e-commerce website and Social Media accounts.  Once these are in place I need to optimise my website using SEO. So that anyone searching for the keywords related to my products sees my website.  Even my social media accounts should be optimised for the keywords using the bio and about us pages.
Then I got to regularly post high-quality content on my social media channels. Create blogs on the history of the fabric and print of my sarees. talk about how it is so light to carry and best for the summer season.
Collect emails of everyone who visits my websites. Send them offers regularly via emails. Simultaneously run google ads and social media ads to reach my target audience.
Once the entire Digital Marketing machinery is working in tandem. You will an upward graph of sales and growth of your business.
One more very important aspect of Digital Marketing is personal branding. People like to talk to people and not logos. Be the brand ambassador of your brand. Reach out to them via social media, help them with your expertise in your domain.
